At one point this year, my entire family couldn't get enough of homemade Tartar Sauce, we always kept it stocked in the fridge. It's incredibly simple to make and tastes much better than any store-bought version, plus it's more cost-effective!
I encourage you to try it. There are numerous variations, but this Tartar Sauce recipe stands out in our region, offering perfectly balanced flavors and always being in high demand. It pairs wonderfully with fish, fried or baked potatoes, meats, mushrooms, and more.
In a deep bowl, mix 150g mayonnaise and 150g yogurt.
While many recipes use only mayonnaise, I find this version too rich and heavy, so try out different mixes to discover your preferred combination.
Gather the remaining ingredients for the recipe.
Dice the cucumbers into the smallest cubes possible; this is a great opportunity to practice your knife skills.
I've tried making the sauce in a food processor, but the hand-chopped small cubes add a special texture.
Finely chop the onion, dill, and optional capers, if you’re using them.
Add all chopped vegetables to the bowl with the mayonnaise and yogurt.
Add the lemon juice, sugar, and pepper.
Stir the Tartar sauce thoroughly, adjusting the salt to taste.
Serve with your favorite dishes; our top picks are fish or air-fried/fried/baked potatoes.
Enjoy your meal!
