Caprese Salad

This is the most popular Italian salad and now I can see why ... Soft mozzarella combined with juicy tomatoes and savoury pesto sauce - it's a taste you will never forget.

And the coolest thing is that it's really quick (you only need to find good basil) and it would definitely make an impression at a festive meal and be much appreciated.

Ingredients

Tomatoes
4 pieces
pick medium sized, good quality tomatoes
Mozzarella
300 g
make sure the mozzarella and the tomatoes are about the same size
Basil
5 pieces
Herbes de Provence
0.5 tsp
optional
Extravirgin olive oil
2 tsp

Step by step

Cut the tomatoes and the mozzarella into 3-4 mm thick equal slices.

On a plate alternate slices of tomaoes, mozzarella and a basil leaf. Repeat until you cover the whole plate.

Use a spoon to carefully spread the pesto sauce. Try not to scatter it too much - make it look like a thread over all the ingredients.

Then drizzle olive oil on top and, optionally, sprinkle with some herbes de Provence.

And it's ready!

If you don't have good tomatoes, it's better to use cherry tomatoes - they are more flavourful and crisp. 

In this case, use mozzarella balls, to make it nice :)
