Cinnamon Baked Apples

Cinnamon Baked Apples

These baked apples are my little girl's favorite dessert. Surprisingly, especially since they are so easy to make, each time they get eaten too quickly with lots of appetite. I was thinking of how we tend to forget about the simple sweets of our childhood in the run for super clever recipes. My grandmother and mother would often bake apples for the holidays (even the whole apple, with stalk and seeds) and they were always very popular.

I want to show you below how to bake simple apples, without filling. You can even skip the sugar and cinnamon if you don't like it or you're not allowed to have it. There are also ways of baking apples with honey. I don't recommend. Honey becomes toxic when heated and it's better to avoid this, if it's not mandatory. The easiest way is to spread the honey over the top of the apples, after they've cooled a bit.

Ingredients

Apples
8 pieces
whichever you have and prefer
Brown sugar
2 tbsp
you can skip or replace with plain sugar
Cinnamon powder
1 tsp
optional

Step 3

Arrange in a large baking tray, lined with parchment (this is not mandatory, but saves you from washing the tray after baking, as the apples will release the juice).

You can sprinkle with a little brown sugar on each apple half, it's optional.

When they are done, you'll notice that the crust will swell and crack, it's normal.

After baking, leave on the table to cool.

We usually have them simple, hot or cold, but they are also good with some vanilla ice cream or a little whipped cream.

Enjoy!
