Step by step
Step 1
Measure the sugar and water into a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
Step 2
Once the sugar has fully dissolved and the mixture begins to boil, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 5 minutes. This timing is crucial; less time will result in very soft fudge, while more time will make it too hard and dry.
Step 3
Remove the pan from the heat, add the butter, and stir until it has completely melted.
Step 4
Add the powdered milk and whisk until smooth to prevent lumps.
Step 5
Finally, add the cocoa powder and flavors, mixing well to ensure a lump-free, uniform mixture.
Step 6
Pour the mixture into a 20x20cm tray, greased and lined with food-safe plastic wrap.
Decorate with walnuts, hazelnuts, or raisins on top, and refrigerate until it sets well, about 3-4 hours.
Step 7
After the chilling time, invert the fudge onto a board or table with the back side facing up.
Step 8
If the fudge contains nuts, cut it from the top down for neater slices.
Step 9
Cut into your preferred sizes; smaller pieces are recommended due to the fudge's richness.
Step 10
Serve your homemade chocolate fudge with a hot cup of tea or coffee.
Enjoy your meal!
